Bhavnagar is a port city in the Gujarat State's Saurashtra Region. It's located around 198 kilometres from the state capital of Gandhinagar. This Takhteshwar hilltop temple is one of the earliest documented sacred places in all of Gujarat, and it can be found on the Takteshwar Tarheti Road. The route to the temple is more of a hike, set out along a marble stairway with a wonderful perspective of the verdant landscape that surrounds it. An image of Shiva and a lesser Nandi figure sit atop eighteen ornate pillars in the temple's large courtyard, which serves as the shrine's focus.

The locals refer to the temple as the Aksharwadi temple, although visitors often just call it "the temple."

Bor Talav's Gaurishankar Lake, also called Bhavnagar Nagar, is located on each side of Victoria Park. In 1872, the Gaurishankar Lake was originally constructed as a public reservoir when its sister stream, Balvatika, merged with it. Besides a Shaiva temple, there is also a children's area called the Pil Garden. As a bonus, the lake makes for a beautiful sunset backdrop.
