Telangana’s oldest wildlife sanctuary
The Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary is one of Telangana's oldest wildlife sanctuaries, located around 110 kilometres from Warangal. Because of its high biodiversity, the old Hyderabad government declared it a wildlife reserve in 1953. The Dayyum Vagu River divides the refuge into two sections, adding to its allure. The sanctuary is densely forested, which adds to the picturesque beauty of the region. This beautiful area attracts travellers from all over and is known to be a photographer’s delight.

The wildlife park has both steep and mild slopes built in an area of 806 square kilometres. According to experts, the park is one of the rarest ecoregions in the world. Rising and descending plains and dense forest formation cover three-fourths of the sanctuary, with springs and streams making up the remaining one-fourth. The Sammakkka Sarakka Jathra, which occurs once every two years, is the biggest tribal festival in Asia and is another major attraction at the Eturnagaram Wildlife Sanctuary.
