The Nag Kanya fell in love with Kush, and since she was a devotee of Shiva, Kush built this temple in his honour. This temple was in good condition till the reign of King Vikramaditya. It was renovated in 1750 by Naval Rai, the minister of Nawab Safdarjung. The festival of Shivaratri is celebrated with great pomp in this temple.
