With the onset of festival season, there are celebrations, gatherings, events and fairs galore to look forward to. In fact, the Marwar Festival in Jodhpur which is just around the corner.
The Marwar Festival was originally known as Maand Festival, which was a music festival to commemorate victories of Rajput heroes. It is now a cultural event where people from all over the world come to have two days of unparalleled fun in authentic Rajasthani style with the right mix of culture, history, fun and pleasant weather.

Watch men from all over Rajasthan show (-off) and compete with their mustaches! Turban tying is not just a custom or part of men’s attire here. There is an event dedicated to turban tying where the masters of this subtle art win prizes and the hearts of several others.
Usian Bolt might be the fastest person on earth but who is the fastest person on a tonga or with a pile of pots balanced on his/her head? Find out, at some unique races like the tonga race and matka race that are held during the Marwar Festival.
A midst of all the dancing and singing, the camel tattoo show, clearly stands out. Camels with incredible designs tattooed on them parade the lawns and show some marvellous tricks!
As dusk falls, the ambiance becomes calmer but no less enchanting. Fireworks dazzle the sky in the evening and kick-start the cultural program. Mesmerising folk music and dance performances at the Mehrangarh Fort and Umaid Bhawan Palace transform the place to an era gone by. It goes without saying that the entire experience becomes more special only because of the venues, which still reverberate of a history of elegance, royalty and power.
Scheduled on Sharad Punima every year, this year the Mawar Festival is held on October 17th and 18th.
