Tholu Bommalata is the prominent shadow puppetry in the state. It translates as "dance of leather puppets". The puppets are made of goat hide and are brightly colored. The puppet figure is perforated as needed, and the eyeballs are painted last. A tiny bamboo pole tied to the puppet keeps it vertically straight.
