Overview

After Ram Janmabhoomi & Hanuman Garhi Fort, Kanak Bhawan is the most famous and must-visit temple in Ayodhya. It is situated in the northeast direction of Ram Janmabhoomi. Devotees believe that this Bhawan was gifted by Queen Kaikeyi to Mata Sita right after she got married to Lord Ram. One of the fascinating facts about this mandir is that the whole renovation was carried out by Muslim workers.

What To Expect?

Kanak Bhawan is also known as the Golden Place or Sone ka Ghar, as it houses three golden-crowned idols of Lord Ram and Mata Sita under a silver roof. This was renovated by Vrishbhanu Kunwari, the queen of Tikamgarh in the year 1891. The tourists shall find idols of three deities inside this Bhawan. The biggest idol is named Kanak Bihari, normal-sized is named Manak Bihari and the smallest idol is named Jugal Bihari.
