History of the Kuwaiti Dinar
The Gulf Rupee was officially phased out in 1961 and replaced with the Kuwaiti Dinar. After the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, the Kuwaiti dinar was replaced by the Iraqi dinar as the country's currency. The occupying forces stole a significant amount of cash, both coins and bills, before they left. After the liberation of the country, the Kuwaiti dinar was reintroduced as the official currency of Kuwait, and a new series of banknotes was printed to accompany it.
The first series of Kuwaiti dinars was issued by the Kuwaiti Currency Board in 1960, shortly after the Kuwaiti Currency Law was passed. This series of bills were in circulation from April 1, 1961, all the way through February 1, 1982, and included denominations of quarter dinars, half dinars, one dinar, five dinars, and ten dinars.
The Kuwaiti dinar was tied to a wide variety of currencies between 1975 and 2003. The Kuwaiti Currency Board was responsible for determining which currencies will be included in the currency basket. A rate of 0.29963 USD per dinar was established for the Kuwaiti dinar in the year 2003. This valuation remained in effect until 2007. Then the Kuwaiti dinar was re-pegged to a different basket of currencies.
Countries Accepting the Kuwaiti Dinar
The Kuwaiti dinar is pegged to a basket of currencies as opposed to being pegged to just one single currency. Since it is the official currency of the country of Kuwait, it is the only Kuwaiti dinar country.
Amount in the Kuwaiti Dinar You Should Carry for Your Trip
It's possible that you'll wind up needing more or less money than you thought while you're exploring Kuwait, and it all depends on what you ultimately want to do there. The total cost of your vacation will be determined by a number of different aspects, such as the price of your transportation to and around your destination, the price of your hotel room, and the cost of the food you consume while you are there.
If you are travelling on a limited budget, you should plan to spend close to 35 KWD per day per person. When you include the cost of private transportation, dining at Michelin-starred restaurants, and staying in hotels with three stars or more, taking a luxury vacation can easily cost more than 175 KWD each day. On the other hand, a trip for two can range anywhere between 70 KWD to 350 KWD.
During any given year, the cost of a single night's stay in Kuwait might fluctuate anywhere from 28 KWD to 112 KWD per person per day. It's possible that your daily transportation costs could range anywhere from 0.30 KWD to 35 KWD per day, depending on whether or not you utilise public transportation or a cab.
Keep an eye on the Kuwaiti dinar currency rate as well as Kuwaiti dinar to USD value in order to have a cost-efficient vacation here.
Best Ways to Identify Counterfeit Kuwaiti Dinar Notes
There are a few ways through which you can spot the counterfeit Kuwaiti Dinar notes:
When you "scrub" the paper with your finger, the colours on genuine dinar bills will not bleed, however on counterfeit ones, the colours could bleed.
By analysing the various security aspects of authentic and counterfeit currency, you can acquire the skills necessary to identify the differences between the two.
Keep a tight eye on bills of a larger value, especially the 20 KWD, as counterfeiters target these bills in an attempt to pass them off as real and collect real money in return.
